Fabric Hunt

11:56:00

My friends and me decided that it was time for a small break from the small city Herning. So we planned a weekend to Copenhagen to go fabric hunting.

Last week it was finally time to go to Copenhagen. It took us four hours by bus from Herning to Copenhagen. It is always interesting to see the long bridge from Jutland to Copenhagen, how did they ever build that. Another funny part of that bridge is a small island in the middle, with one house. I'm always wondering who lives there..

Because we are poor students we decided to stay in one of the most awesome hostels in Copenhagen, Downtown. The hostel is established in the middle of the centre, so perfect for a fashion designer like me.

On Saturday morning we started with our hunt. We went the shops very early because in Denmark everything closes early. Yes even in the big cities. Okay it is less than in Herning but still. So..
We went to one of my favorite shops in Copenhagen, Skindhuset. I'm sorry to say but it is a leather/fur shop. Different than in the Netherlands, Danish people love leather and fur. I bought two big pieces of lam leather and two small pieces of goat leather.
Because in my new collection I'm going to take the risk and make a real leather jacket!

After that we went to a few other shops were I bought some left over fabrics. I don't even know what material it exactly is. Also I bought some glasfiber, what looks like the mosquito net.

I bought a lot more but be patience and wait for my new collection.
Next week I'm going to London, so stay tuned and wait for my next trip!!

Places you should visit in Copenhagen:
- Hostel DownTown. The staff is friendly and willing to help, perfect for young people who want to meet other open minded persons. If you're not staying here still try the Chai Latte Tea.

-Christiania. Christiania is one of the places you won't find in the normal tourist books. It is a neighborhood with his own rules. You can see it as a left over village from the hippie time.

-Copenhagen card. If you are going for a few days to Copenhagen I recommend you to buy a Copenhagen card. Denmark is an expensive country so If you want to visit something the change is big you have to pay. With the Copenhagen card you can visit different castles, museums and other interesting places, like the tower in the exact middle of Copenhagen and the Design museum.
